3rd-Dec-2007 06:52 pm - death to the bcs
college football needs a playoff system similar to the nfl. bcs is just a bunch of rich guys and some stupid computers determining how each team should rank. the playoff system works in other divisions of college football. why shouldn't it work in division 1? btw illinois does not deserve to play in the rose bowl against usc. that spot was stolen away from missouri. too bad the bcs restricts each conference to only 2 teams to participate in a bcs bowl.

so the other day i went to staples to purchase a mouse for 15+tax. the casing for the reciever comes off so i decided to return the item. while i was there, i decided to pick up another mouse instead. i saw that the microsoft notebook 4000 was on sale for 31.98 plus an additional $5 rebate. so i picked that up and went to the register. the register rung up 42.98. i told the lady that the price on the shelves was 31.98. so they called over one of the workers and he went back to look at the price. he came back and said the price is listed at 32.98. again i informed that that the correct price is 31.98. i then took the guy to the shelves and pointed out to him the correct price. so now they rung it up at 31.98. well one of their policies is that if the register ever rings up an incorrect price, they will deduct another 3 bucks from the price. i told the lady there and even pointed to the sign that was on the counter. she called over the manger and he deducted an additional 3 bucks making it 28.98+tax. now the receipt printed fine but the rebate didnt come through. i asked them where my rebate is at. the same guy told me that he'll go and print it out for me right now. so he went to a machine and tried to look it up. after 5-8 minutes he informs me that the rebate is not in their system. he told me i could print it off of microsoft's site or come back later.

life is getting so much more difficult now. my dad was just employed by the California Community News that is owned by the LA Times. for the last year, he's been just going in and out of my uncle's restaurant and doing housework. it's good to see him getting back on his feet again and earning a salary. what really saddens me is that hes 57 and forced to start from the bottom again. my mom is 43 and is on minimum wage now. this forces me to get a job while trying to go to school just to pay for my own expenses. i'm hoping we can get out of this hole within the next year. as of now my dad's hours are from 2 in the afternoon until 1 in the morning. my mom works from 9 in the morning until 8:30 at night. this is gonna be rough for the next couple of months.

black friday was pretty awesome. for 2 hours, i get to experience the life of a bum. i slept on the floor outside of staples..... anyways i went to staples at 11:30 thursday night with jenny waiting for them to open at 6 in the morning. we were soooo bored for the 6+ hours. the 2 people that were sitting behind us invited us to play cards with them. it turned out that they were both studying at ucsd! what a nice coincidence. they also liked to play badminton! we ended up getting our rackets out of our bag and hitting around for half an hour. oh yeah jenny's sister came and joined us. she came some time when i was asleep. well i ended up getting what i wanted in the end. the samsung laser printer for $40 AR, maxtor 200gb hd for $20 AR, Sandisk Cruzer Micro 1gb for $7 AR, and a Staples surge protector for $7 AR. pretty decent black friday.
